How to Transfer Favorites from Internet Explorer to Your New Browser

How do I copy favorites from Internet Explorer?

If you’re using Internet Explorer and want to transfer your favorite websites to another computer or device, copying your favorites is a straightforward process. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to do it.

First, open Internet Explorer on your computer. You’ll find the Favorites feature in the upper-right corner of the browser window. Click on the star icon to access your favorites.

Step 1: Access Your Favorites

Next, click on the “Organize” button located on the toolbar. This will open a dropdown menu with various options. Select “Manage favorites” from the list.

Step 2: Open the Manage Favorites Window

A new window will appear, displaying all your favorite websites. This is where you can copy, delete, or edit your favorites.

Step 3: Select the Favorites You Want to Copy

In the “Organize favorites” window, you can see a list of folders and individual websites. To copy a single favorite, right-click on the website and select “Copy.” To copy multiple favorites, hold down the Ctrl key and click on each website you want to copy.

Step 4: Copy the Favorites to a New Location

After selecting the favorites you want to copy, right-click on an empty space in the “Organize favorites” window and choose “Paste.” This will place the copied favorites in the current folder.

If you want to create a new folder for your copied favorites, right-click on an empty space in the window, select “New,” and then choose “Folder.” Give the folder a name and press Enter.

Step 5: Save Your Changes

Once you have copied your favorites to the desired location, click “OK” to close the “Organize favorites” window. Your changes will be saved automatically.

Now, you can export your favorites to another computer or device by following these steps:

1. In the “Organize favorites” window, click on “File” in the upper-left corner of the window.
2. Select “Export favorites…” from the dropdown menu.
3. Choose a location to save the exported favorites file (usually in the form of an HTML file).
4. Click “Save” to export your favorites.

To import the exported favorites on another computer or device, follow these steps:

1. Open Internet Explorer on the new computer or device.
2. Go to the “Organize favorites” window by clicking on the “Organize” button and selecting “Manage favorites.”
3. Click on “File” and choose “Import favorites…”
4. Select the exported favorites file and click “Import.”

Your favorites will now be copied to the new computer or device, and you can start browsing your favorite websites from there.
