Step-by-Step Guide- How to Make OneDrive Appear in File Explorer on Windows

How do I get OneDrive to show in File Explorer?

OneDrive is a popular cloud storage service provided by Microsoft, allowing users to store, sync, and share files across multiple devices. However, by default, OneDrive may not be visible in the File Explorer on your Windows computer. If you want to access your OneDrive files directly from File Explorer, follow these simple steps to get it up and running.

Step 1: Check if OneDrive is installed

Before you proceed, ensure that OneDrive is installed on your computer. To do this, follow these steps:

1. Click on the Start button and type “OneDrive” in the search box.
2. If OneDrive is installed, you will see an option to open it. If not, you will need to install it first by visiting the official OneDrive website and downloading the installer.

Step 2: Enable OneDrive integration with File Explorer

Once OneDrive is installed, you need to enable its integration with File Explorer. Here’s how to do it:

1. Open OneDrive by clicking on the OneDrive icon in the system tray (next to the clock) or by searching for it in the Start menu.
2. In the OneDrive window, click on the gear icon in the upper-right corner to open the settings menu.
3. In the settings menu, go to the “Files” tab.
4. Look for the “Files On-Demand” option and make sure it is turned on. This allows you to access your OneDrive files directly from File Explorer without having to download them first.
5. Next, scroll down to the “OneDrive” section and click on “Show OneDrive in File Explorer.”
6. A prompt will appear asking for confirmation. Click “Yes” to enable OneDrive integration with File Explorer.

Step 3: Refresh File Explorer

After enabling OneDrive integration, you may need to refresh File Explorer to see the OneDrive folder. To do this:

1. Close File Explorer if it is currently open.
2. Press the Windows key + E to open File Explorer.
3. You should now see the OneDrive folder listed under “This PC” or “Computers” in the left-hand navigation pane.

Step 4: Customize OneDrive settings

If you want to further customize your OneDrive experience in File Explorer, you can do so by following these steps:

1. Right-click on the OneDrive folder in File Explorer and select “Properties.”
2. In the Properties window, you can modify the file synchronization settings, set up file sharing, and manage your OneDrive account.

By following these steps, you should now have OneDrive integrated with File Explorer, allowing you to easily access and manage your cloud storage files.
