Teachers and Learning Support Assistants

On Track teachers and tutors are all trained and experienced in the delivery of personalised education programmes, appropriate to each pupil’s individual needs, learning styles and interests.

All staff specialise in working with young people with barriers to learning, including Dyslexia, Asperger's, Autism and ADHD.

Teachers and tutors have expert knowledge of the subjects that they teach. If they do not, they are supported to address these gaps so that pupils are not disadvantaged by ineffective teaching; CPD is aligned to the curriculum.

Teachers and tutors ensure that pupils embed key concepts in their long-term memory and apply them fluently.

Teachers and tutors use assessment to help pupils embed and use knowledge fluently and develop their understanding and not simply memorize disconnected facts. The way teaching is delivered comes in a variety of forms. Furthermore, due to technology, there are now many ways that teachers can impart education to their pupils and engage them in the learning process. Teachers and Learning support staff are encouraged to take part in a variety of pedagogical training sessions which helps to improve how they communicate with pupils as well as the quality of their teaching.

Our Thrive Practitioners

At On Track Mildenhall, we have four qualified Thrive Practitioners. The Thrive approach draws on insights in attachment theory, child development and neuroscience to provide a way of working with children and young people that supports optimal social and emotional development and helps them re-engage with life and learning.

We base our emotional development planning and delivery on the Thrive programme. All new pupils are assessed by a trained Thrive practitioner. This enables us to get a clear understanding of specific behaviours and enables support to be appropriately focused.

Each pupil has a new Thrive assessment each half term which provides targets for their emotional development. This then feeds into all Thrive programme planning, lesson delivery and intervention work for each pupil. All staff attend fortnightly Thrive meetings where individual pupil’s targets and strategies are discussed.

Our Nurture Group Leads

Each of our five Nurture Groups has a highly trained Nurture Group Lead. This member of staff is responsible for each pupil in their group, on a day to day basis. They are a consistent presence, a go to person, providing security and compassion from the beginning of the day to the end.
