Lead English Teacher

THE PERSON
- Qualified Teacher (QTS/QTLS/PGCE) preferred but other recognised teaching qualification considered
- Proven experience of teaching English to secondary class/group
- Experience within an SEN setting
- Ability to prepare and deliver appropriate curriculum using a range of teaching styles and methodologies.
- Driving licence and use of own car as may be required to transport pupils
THE JOB
- Lead subject teaching responsibility and ensure all pupils develop their knowledge and skills and make good progress in their learning
- Work with the Head Teacher and Leadership team to deliver a sequenced curriculum which builds knowledge and skills towards agreed end points
- Effectively monitor the progress of each pupil, checking their understanding systematically and effectively, putting in place clearly directed and timely intervention

SALARY
Salary £25,410 - £39,300 per annum dependent on qualifications and experience.

THE JOB:
- To plan, deliver and evidence parts of individual learning programmes 1:1 or in small groups, including undertaking appropriate risk assessment
- To maintain an awareness of safeguarding and making this a priority, reporting all concerns promptly
- To implement strategies to support pupils with Special Educational Needs to access learning throughout the school day, building rapport and being a trusted adult
- To provide specific and targeted support, depending on individual pupil needs, ensuring safety whilst supporting access to learning activities.
- To encourage the development of strategies for young people to manage behaviour, anger and frustration.

THE PERSON:
- Experience of working with children and young people
- An interest in supporting pupils to overcome barriers to learning
- An ability to effectively and positively manage challenging behaviour
- Good general standard of education (GCSE Grade 4 or equivalent in English and Maths) and IT proficiency
- You may be required to transport pupils so you must be able to drive and have access to your own car

THE JOB
Plan and support a range of outdoor and offsite activities that will enable the growth, development and education of pupils with behavioural, emotional and social issues.
Follow school policies and procedures to facilitate the safe running of offsite activities.
You may also be required to deliver lessons onsite.

Experience of delivering or supporting learning outside of the classroom
Experience of working with children and young people
Experience working within an SEN setting an advantage
