At West Yarner we believe that ICT and Computing is an integral part of modern day society and we are determined to provide our children with the skills and knowledge they need for the 21st century. In order to ensure that all our children's learning needs are met, we constantly review, develop and update the resources and technology we use, including the use of the technology at home. Through the school we teach children to be safe and confident users of technology and are able to use it for different purposes. E-safety is a big focus within our curriculum as we want to ensure that all our children understand a range of ways to use technology safely, respectfully, responsibly and securely, including protecting their online identity and privacy; recognise inappropriate content, contact and conduct, and know how to report concerns. We also teach children about their digital footprint by considering the dangers of oversharing, password complexity and social media, enabling them to access a wide range of technology safely.
When leaving our school, we aim that every child has a good level of computer literacy skills for their future career development, e.g. find and present relevant information, being able to write job applications, make appointments and attend interviews.
